Cost of Many Birth, Marriage, and Death Certificates to Increase in Early April 2010
The General Register Office (GRO) has announced a new set of charges which will take effect on 6 April 2010 for birth, marriage, and death certificates from England and Wales. Some charges will go down, but for what is probably the most common way of ordering certificates (online, with a reference number provided by the purchaser) the cost will increase from £7.00 to £9.25. Details can be seen on the Immigration and Passport Service website, at www.ips.gov.uk/cps/rde/xchg/ips_live/hs.xsl/1569.htm.
